April's Full Pink Moon 2025 – A Time for Renewal, Balance & Blossoming Intentions

Saturday 12th April 2025 | Peak Illumination: 1:22 AM (BST)

As I write this, I’m sitting on the sand at Pembrey Beach in Wales, watching the sun melt into the horizon while the moon has slowly risen behind me. There’s something deeply grounding and magical about witnessing both the setting sun and rising moon – it feels like a powerful alignment, and I’m feeling incredibly connected to the earth, the sky, and everything in between.

April’s Full Moon, known as the Pink Moon, graces our skies this weekend – rising in beauty on Saturday 12th April and reaching full illumination at 1:22 AM.

It’s important to note the moon won’t actually appear pink – the name comes from the wild pink phlox flowers that are among the first to bloom in early spring across North America. This lunar name, like many others in the calendar, originates from traditional Native American and colonial naming systems that tracked the changing seasons.

Also known as the Paschal Moon, this full moon marks the first full moon of spring and plays a key role in determining the date of Easter. It will appear beside Spica, the brightest star in Virgo, adding an extra celestial sparkle.

You’ll be able to view the Pink Moon at its most stunning both on Saturday night and Sunday night – especially just after moonrise. We intend to be sat outside on Saturday evening by a roaring campfire, doing a release ritual beneath the moonlight. A perfect moment to let go, reflect, and reconnect.

Why This Moon Is So Special?

As the first full moon of spring, the Pink Moon is a powerful time for rebirth, renewal, and emotional cleansing. It’s a chance to shake off winter’s heaviness and align yourself with nature’s upward movement – toward light, growth, and possibility.

This year’s Pink Moon also falls in the sign of Libra, which brings a focus on balance, relationships, and harmony. It invites us to pause and reflect on the ways we show up for ourselves and others, to reset boundaries, and to seek peace – both within and around us.

How to Work with the Energy of the Pink Moon

Five ways to align with the energy of this lunation:

1. Emotional Release Ritual

Write down what you’re ready to let go of – be it fears, limiting beliefs, toxic habits, or emotional wounds. Then, safely burn the paper under the moonlight to symbolise your release and liberation.

2. Intention Setting Ceremony

Use this moon as a portal for growth. Write down your intentions for the next lunar cycle – what you wish to create, manifest, or call in. Speak them aloud under the moon and keep your list on your altar, vision board, or sacred space.

3. Moon Water Magic

Place a jar or bowl of water under the moonlight overnight to charge it with lunar energy. This water can later be used to cleanse your crystals, anoint yourself, or water plants with intention.

4. Nature Walk & Earth Connection

Take a walk in nature – whether it’s your garden, a local park, or woodland trail. Collect natural items like petals, stones, or leaves to use in your rituals or decorate your altar.

5. Sacred Pause & Moon Gazing

Sometimes, the most powerful ritual is simply to sit in stillness and bask in the moonlight. Connect to your breath, your body, and the earth beneath you. Let this be a moment of presence and peace.

Final Thoughts: Let the Pink Moon Guide You...

This full moon is an invitation to realign with your highest self, your soul’s purpose, and the natural rhythms of the earth. Whether you gather with others in ritual, spend time journaling, or simply enjoy the sight of the moon rising over the horizon, allow its light to remind you of the beauty of beginnings, and the power of presence.

“The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore?”

– Deng Ming-Dao
