August Supermoon 2022! Sturgeon Moon

August Supermoon 2022! Sturgeon Moon

Last full Supermoon of 2022! This one's going to be magical ✨ Make it count!
On Fri, August 12th the Sturgeon Moon of August will be the last supermoon this year.
August’s full Moon is traditionally called the Sturgeon Moon because the giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this period. It's also been called the green corn moon, the grain moon, and the red moon for the reddish hue it often takes on in the summer haze.
The Sturgeon Moon finalises this year’s parade of four supermoons, which started in May. Supermoons are commonly defined as full Moons that occur while the Moon is at its nearest point to Earth. (Because its orbit is not a perfect circle, the Moon’s distance from Earth changes throughout the month).
Supermoons are ever-so-slightly closer to Earth than the average full Moon, which technically makes them extra large and brighter from here on Earth’s perspective.
With the full sturgeon moon in the sky, we’ll notice the days getting shorter and the sunlight weakening. We'll be lighting the chimneas in the evenings as the final summer days of August heat around us remind us of pumpkin spiced lattes and jumper weather inbound. Time is up for our growing crops and it’s harvest time!
August's Sturgeon Moon is a time for all of us to take a step back and really appreciate everything. This moon symbolizes gratitude for the bounties of nature, and asks us to step in to the flow and appreciate the fruits of all seasons and the unique beauties of the cycles of life.
In this moon we are reminded that we should, if we aren't already, think about realigning ourselves.
These are key ways of being in alignment...
Meditation, Nature, Water (flow) very applicable as this is a sturgeon moon (a fish), Movement (be active) Staying Present in the Moment (don't live in the past)
Be willing to focus on areas where you feel joyful and inspired and take steps to let go of the things that are limiting or draining.
Take this opportunity to let go of old pain, release what bogs you down, and open your mind to renewed flexibility and clarity.
With this being the final supermoon in this year... if you've not released what you really need to in order to free your energies of weights; then this moon must not be missed!
It's been a big year on the astro scale and lots of stuff has happened.
"Have you put the work in?"
Remember that the sturgeon moon celebrates the coming of autumn and the end of summer.
Every seed of intention you planted (physically, emotionally and spiritually) and every action you made is about to show its fruits....some may be coming to fruition in other ways or ways you cannot yet see (as per manifestation practices)
Sweet will be the fruits you’ll harvest, both spiritually and physically!
When a sturgeon moon is up in the sky, its spiritual meaning is much clearer. Among its meanings and intentions are gratitude and reaping the harvest. A flourishing harvest and life accompany the intention of more get up and go.
This time of year, farmers traditionally begin to celebrate the yield of their crop as they see how it's grown in the year ready for harvesting. The fruits of their labour are coming in.
As you witness the full autumn moon up high, breathe in and out. Pause for a moment and recall all the struggles you went through in the past couple of months as you planted the seeds of potential and manifested your desires.
Now is the time to enter the autumn season with perseverance to carry on your dreams with a full heart.
