Larvikite, aka Norwegian Moonstone originates from the Larvik Fjord region in Norway. It’s often called Black Moonstone or Black Labradorite but this is a different composition and does not display quite the same labradorescence that the others do - this is more sparkly in pieces because of its feldspar composition. Larvikite is believed to have been formed 298 million years ago 18 miles below the earth's surface, it has only been mined since 1884 when discovered in its namesake town of Larvik, Norway.

Larvikite is usually rich in titanium and contains Nepheline Syenite, Perthite, Orthoclase, Anorthoclase, Anorthite, Plagioclase, and Albite. Commonly dark blue, dark grey, or black, it is distinguished by its inclusion of plagioclase and alkali feldspar, which create its famous blue and silver flash. This sparkling flash of silver or blue from within the stone is commonly referred to as the “Schiller Effect'' or Labradorescence.

Larvikite is good for the lungs and enhances sleep and whilst asleep - it also enhances one's dreams and the understanding of those dreams and any insights gained from them.

It’s a relaxing and grounding stone that brings emotions to the surface and soothes the heart once they have risen. Integrates past and present.

Good for astral travel, the aura and astral projection.

Helps with insecurity and apprehension and great for neutralising anxiety.
